Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-08-03. Last updated 2026-08-03.
1. Who we are
Play Cards Live and the games within it — including Wild Hand & Foot — are operated by Joslin Studios LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("Joslin Studios", "we", "us", "our"). Joslin Studios LLC is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

This policy covers the playcardslive.com website and the Play Cards Live app on every platform we publish it to.
2. What we collect
We have kept this list specific rather than generic, so you can see exactly what exists.
You give us:
- Email address and password — to create and sign in to your account. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never stored by us in readable form; we cannot see your password.
- Display name — chosen by you, shown to other players, capped at 16 characters.
- Chat messages you send in the lobby or at a table, together with the account that sent them.
The game creates as you play:
- Game statistics — games played, games won, games abandoned, and the date you joined.
- Credit balance — your in-game currency balance and the results of games that changed it.
- Table and match records — which table and seat you occupied and the outcome of the round, kept so a game can be scored, settled and audited.
- Online status — whether you are currently connected, so other players can see who is available and so abandoned tables can be cleaned up. This is deleted the moment you disconnect.
Collected automatically:
- Technical data needed to run a networked game: an account identifier, connection and device information, and error logs when something goes wrong.
- Website analytics — see §6.
We do not collect your real name, your postal address, your phone number, your contacts, your photos, your location, or your device's advertising identifier. We do not use tracking for advertising, and there is no advertising in the game.
3. Payments
If you buy credits, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is made to Google, not to us. We never see or receive your card number, bank details, or billing address — we receive only confirmation that a purchase succeeded, so we can add the credits to your account. Google's handling of that transaction is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
4. Why we use it
We use the information above only to:
- create your account and sign you in;
- run the games — deal cards, match you with other players, keep score, settle the pot;
- show your display name, statistics and online status to other players in a game or lobby;
- deliver chat between players;
- add credits you have purchased, and detect and prevent cheating, fraud and abuse;
- answer you when you contact support;
- fix crashes and diagnose faults;
- comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing. We have never done either and have no plans to.
5. Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers, who process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
| Provider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions) | Hosts the accounts, game state, chat and server logic. This is where essentially all game data lives. |
| Google Play | Distributes the Android app and processes purchases. |
| Statcounter | Website visitor analytics on playcardslive.com only — not in the game. |
| Google Fonts | Serves the typefaces on playcardslive.com. Loading a font sends your IP address to Google. |
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of Joslin Studios LLC, our players, or the public.
6. Cookies and website analytics
The game itself does not use cookies.
The playcardslive.com website uses Statcounter to count visits and see which pages are read. This sets cookies and records your IP address, browser, and referring page. We use it only to understand traffic in aggregate — we do not use it to identify you, build a profile, or target advertising.
You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or use your browser's Do Not Track setting, without losing access to any part of the site. The site is fully usable with cookies disabled.
If you sign up for launch notifications, we store the email address you give us for that one purpose and nothing else. Every notification email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address.
7. How long we keep it
- Account information and game statistics — for as long as your account exists.
- Chat messages — the lobby keeps only recent messages; table chat is tied to the game it was sent in.
- Online status — deleted immediately when you disconnect.
- Records we must keep for tax, accounting or fraud purposes — for as long as the law requires, even after an account is deleted.
When you delete your account we remove your personal information, except for anything in that last category and anything already anonymised so that it can no longer identify you.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- see the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your account and the personal information attached to it;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- object to or restrict how we use it.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the EU or UK, our lawful bases are performance of a contract (running the game you asked to play), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and keeping the service working), consent (launch-notification emails and website analytics), and legal obligation. You have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
If you are in California, we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
9. Security
Player hands, the deck, and every credit balance are held server-side and are not readable or writable by the game client. Card data is protected so that a player cannot see another player's hand or alter their own. Access to production systems is restricted to Joslin Studios LLC.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Age
Play Cards Live is for adults aged 18 and over. The game includes purchasable virtual credits and competitive play for a virtual pot, and is not designed or directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We operate from the United States and our service providers process data in the United States. If you use Play Cards Live from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
12. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for any change that materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
